Who is Olivier?

A career devoted to education, public affairs and youth.

Portrait of Olivier Bertin-Mahieux

For more than 25 years I've worked on issues that affect people's daily lives: education, the French language, the environment, economic development and international cooperation. I'm as comfortable on the ground as I am with ideas.

For over four years I led the Paul Gérin-Lajoie Foundation, which improves living conditions through education. Before that, my path ran through government relations at VIA Rail, economic diplomacy, co-founding a tech company, and fieldwork alongside farmers in West Africa. I learned the job by doing it, next to the people it affects.

A father of two, I'm running in Soulanges with a simple belief: the best decisions come from listening to people. I studied commerce at McGill and political science at Université de Montréal, but it's hands-on experience that drives what I do.
